I am writing this on behalf of my husband who uses the Kenwood almost daily. We tend to buy the best flour we can find but the excellent results are still so much cheaper than shop bought bread. The Kenwood turns out a perfect loaf every time and the only complaint is that the plastic kneader tends to lodge itself in the bottom of the bread (especially the wholemeal loaf which is denser) and can be quite difficult to remove without leaving a substantial hole in the loaf. Other than this small detail we have had no other problems - it is extremely easy to set up and also to clean and tucks neatly into a corner of my kitchen worktop. There are only two in our household but the large loaf is big enough for a family and it's so easy to pop the ingredients for another one in the machine any time. This is our first experience of breadmaking and we would highly recommend the Kenwood. PS The sundried tomato bread is great!!

Only -ve I have found is that dough gets stuck in the top of the paddle - nothing a skewer won't sort out though

Don't be put off by negative reviews.
By TinaVerified Reviewer from Kent on 4/30/2008
Pros:
Delicious Bread, Simple Settings, Very good value
Cons:
Kneading a bit noisy
Best Uses:
Loaves
Describe Yourself:
Avid Cook
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I read some bad reviews on this product but after personal recommendation decided to purchase it anyway. It was a good decision. This breadmaker bakes a lovely loaf with 3 choices of size. It is extremely good value compared to some of the other breadmakers on the market and if you have never used one before I don't think you can beat it. The only bad point about it, if I had to give one, is that the paddle that kneads the bread will make a hole in your loaf when you remove it from the baking tin. One way round this is once the breadmaker has finished kneading and the bread is about to go onto the cook cycle remove the paddle. You still get a great loaf without the hole. Every loaf I have cooked so far has been delicious.

Very neat machine, produces lovely bread
By noneVerified Reviewer from Dorset on 12/6/2007
Pros:
Compact Storage, Consistency, Delicious Bread, Simple Settings
Cons:
Recipes not too good
Best Uses:
Cakes, Dough setting for rolls, Loaves
Describe Yourself:
Casual Cook
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Lovely shape loaf that is similar looking to those in the bakery. Other machines make a 'tower'shape, and so no good for slices. The dough will stick in one corner producing a 'dry' patch in corner of cooked loaf, but easily remided by scaping dough down during kneading cycle, but this does mean you have to be near the machine for the first 20 mins or so.

Just what it said on the tin

Cons:
Noisy
Best Uses:

This bread maker is as universal as a bread maker could be, from just setting it for a full loaf and forgetting about it, until you smell the delicious aromas, to making your own dough concoctions for baking in the oven. And consistency is the key thing about this model.

Don't waste your dough on a Kenwood.
By NoneVerified Reviewer from HA5 5HR on 11/20/2007
Describe Yourself:

Pros:
None
Cons:
1 Poor display
Best Uses:
None
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

1. Poor screen display.
2. Menu list not printed on the lid.
3. Menus unnecessarily complicated.
4. Compare with prima, here the lid clearly displays the menus and all controls are easy to read. The bin is easy to remove and the recipes are simple needing fewer ingredients than Kenwood.

Results good but instructions poor.
By JohnVerified Reviewer from Somerset on 11/20/2007

Pros:
Compact Storage, Consistency
Cons:
Lacks Variety, Noisy
Best Uses:
Loaves
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I regret not spending more so as to replace my ******** Breadmaker with like for like. Instructions for the Kenwood are of small print and faint - not good unless you have perfect eyesight. The proportions alter between weight and volume and can be confusing whilst the directions for use are overly complicated. The offered recipes are minimal leaving you to proceed thro' trial and error. The final bread is fine - it is the operation which irritates me.

This is the second Kenwood machine I have had which indicates my satisfaction with the machine. One word of warning - don't throw away (by mistake or otherwise!) the paddle as a replacement is quite expensive and, sometimes, difficult to obtain.

It would be better if the blade collapsed as it leaves a big hole in the loaf. Apart from that it is superb
