Cons:
Blade dropping too soon
Best Uses:

Describe Yourself:

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

The granary bread is delicious. All the loaves I've tried have come out well, but the standard white loaf tastes a bit like cake - sweet and milky. I have to tilt the pan while adding ingredients to stop the blade dropping too soon. The first time I used it, the memory was blocked and I had to ring the helpline for instructions to clear it.

I am making regular use of this Which? best buy breadmaker. So far I've tried the recipes provided for white, wholemeal, french and the raisin bread, which is a favourite. I'm looking forward to trying some of the others. I've also bought a couple of books about breadmaking one of which provides recipes with lower sugar and salt content.

The drop down kneading blade sometimes stays in the loaf but it's not a big problem.

Just make sure you follow the correct proportions for ingredients and all should be well. At least it has for us after a few weeks use. However if you have a budding experimental chef beware. Look in the top as the mixture turns around and add wet or dry ingredients as neceesary and this will pull it back to edible for you until the next experiment.I had a panasonic years ago but alhough it was a good bread maker it soon broke down and was much more expensive than this at that time-[£]

Followed the instructions being careful to measure the exact quantities & ended up with tasty bread & have done so on the numerous times have used it since. It's easy to use, pretty easy to clean & gives consistent results every time so far. Sticky mark left by sticker is annoying but other than that can't fault it.

the ability to bake bread that has less salt/more seeds or grains than shop bought bread is one of the best features.although a loaf takes around 3 to 4 hours to bake the wait is worth it as the fast bake feature ,although handy, produces an inferior loaf

When my old Morphy Richards packed up after a few years good service I made the silly decision to buy another famous brand name that was cheaper, I have baked good bread without problem on a daily basis for years with Morphy Richards.
I lost count of the number of failed loaves I tried baking with the other brand new one,In fact I did not bake one successful loaf,I went through all the troubleshooting but the bread was useless. the cheap substitute ended up in the bin. I bought this new Morphy Richards, normal baking resumed. perfect bread.

Had a breadmaker before, but very disappointing results on baking wholemeal/granary bread. This breadmaker makes great loaves of these types of bread. Also love the easy way cooked bread just slides out of the tin (it was always a fight to get bread out of previous maker). Very impressed and looking forward to trying other recipes.

Fastbake has made very good bread with the maker's recipes and others.
A plus point is the breadmaker works without any intervention until finished, apart from adding seeds, nuts etc.,
I would recommend new bread makers to spend time reading the instuctions as there is a lot to take in. Also, it is helpful to find out on the 'net what the ingredients do, so that when you experiment you can, confidently, tweak the recipe without a poor result.
I have not bought bread from a shop since buying the breadmaker. Two excellent results were from other recipes for Ciabatta and Apricot Dream Loaf.
So far, I have been very impressed and have recommended the make to friends.

Makes great bread, the only niggle is that for ease of storage I put it on a shelf that means I have to take it off to see the display, then place back on when it's running. A front display would be better for me.

Bottom Line:

I make all my bread now and it has saved money, it is also saves a trip to the shops and I find the machine quick and easy.

However when I first looked up various reviews on this model a lot of people said about the kneadind blade being a problem. It does drop down but it stays embedded in the bottom of the bread ,this is very annoying and is awkward to remove, it obviously does not effect the taste of really delicious bread but you would not win a prize for the best loaf as they all have a hole in the bottom where the blade has been. This I feel is a design fault because the bread is perfect in its texture etc. so the ingredients must be correct, its just that the dough does not stay on top of the blade but envelopes it,Any tips on how to stop this happening ,please.

I bake bread on average 4 times a week, the loaves turn out really well, my son and family now expect a fresh crispy french loaf every sunday, delicious with loads of butter. The only con: sometimes the paddle falls as the ingredients are being put in, so have to put it right, and also it does not always drop down when cooking, but the bread is great, so more than makes up for the problem.

This is a very nice machine - with reservations. I find the vertical shape of the loaf awkward to deal with. The drop down paddle- doesn't always drop down; and ALWAYS comes of in the centre of the loaf making it necessary to prize out with a knife.- resulting in a hole in the centre of the loaf. The very thing that the manufacturers advertise it doesn't have!

This is my 3rd bread maker over a period of 7 years,& the best so far, I use it at least 2 - 3 times per week, I cannot find any faults, The drop down paddle is a brilliant idea, as you don't waste any bread due to any tearing of the base of the loaf trying to get the paddle out!The recipes that I've tried so far have been accurate & the booklet is very informative, the only [small] con is with the booklet, I personally would like a few more varied recipies, but saying that I can always use a bread making recipe book!

Third M.R. Breadmaker. This is like my second one with the addition of a paddle that drops down.
Quality consistancy very good. Only gripe keeping the paddle upright when loading the ingredients.
Unless you want stainless steel go for the slightly cheaper model. Does the same without the paddle.

This is the best bread machine that I have owned and I have had quite a few over the last few years. The only problem I have found is that it is difficult to remove the breadpan from the machine.
Make sure that you use exactly the quantity of ingredients as stated in the recipes, especially yeast. Following problems with other machines I added more yeast than stated and had a collapsed loaf, tried again with the quantity as stated and it was perfect.
I have made white loaves, brown loaves, fruit loaves, used bread mixes, made dough for using to make rolls and think it is absolutely great.
The recipe book has lots of great recipes and also includes quantities for different size loaves, other machines recipes have left you to make the adjustments.
Highly recommended, go out and buy one now

[...]I use the breadmaker daily, this is my 3rd one over many years and the best looking so farMy pet hate is labels. Morphy Richards put an advertising a sticker on the front of the unit securely glued to the stainless steel. The sticker pealed away in bits, leaving a stubborn glue surface that took an age to remove. I asked Morphy Richards customer services how I was supposed to remove it without damaging the stainless steel, they told me to buy some lemons and use the juice to breakdown the glue. They also said that a lot of people complain about it. SO WHY DO THEY DO IT!

Our first one was used heavily for 2 years until an accident damaged it beyond repair. No hesitation we just bought another one straight away. one major plus is the excellent customer service provided. when the spindle in our mixing/baking container seized they just sent us another one, no problem. By the way it makes great bread too!

I use my bread machine every other day. Although hand made bread is therapeutic, using a bread machine frees you up to do other jobs around the house. You can even put it on overnight and wake up to the smell of fresh bread when you wake up. It's Great!!

An excellent breadmaker that's simple to use and bakes a consistently good textured loaf. The drop down kneader is a great improvement on the conventional breadmakers that leave a big hole in the bottom of the loaf. Only thing to be careful of is the type of crust chosen as the dark setting is rather too crispy!

Paddle gets stuck in loaf

Very quick and simple to use, with perfect results every time. The drop-down paddle is a great feature, but it does get stuck in the bottom of the bread 9 times out of 10. Be careful when removing not to scratch the surface with sharp objects!

unique drop-down blade is awful!

Blade bakes into bread, Bread inconsistent
Best Uses:
Loaves

The blade design is bad. The blade lies flat inside the loaf and a huge hole has to be cut in the base of the loaf to release it! We have not had the same loaf twice, despite using the same recipe from the booklet. The loaves vary from too dense to too airy. we are very disappointed with this as it is our third bread maker. We have had them for the last 8 years and never had problems like this with the other makes!

This product has been a valuable addition to our kitchen.Purchased recently to allow us to make our own pizza(our old Goodmans blew up last year after much use) and the replacement(now Anthony Worrall) was near [$], far too much for a bread maker. This maker at the [$] was our best option and has not let us down. Great Pizza dough made simply and without fuss. Have tried making bread and its turned out very nice though one drawback is the shape of the tin the bread is cooked in an upright position as opposed to the traditional lying down method. One note of caution-when removing the bread make sure you remove the mixing blade. Overall for the price tag well worth the money.
