Totally disappointed - No filter in the "new lid design" even though it has holes in the lid to look like it has a filter. Breville said the lid is to be used as a dust cover only - with holes? Not a complete dust cover then!!
Good sized viewing window but as lid cannot be used whilst cooking why is it there? Breville customer services couldn't explain so I can only assume this is so the user can watch the oil cool down. Oh what joy!!!
For the money I'd buy a different fryer

I use to rapid fry small quantities or for kids stuff.
A larger element would speed up heating process and would be useful if it was useable with the lid on to reduce fumes and condensation, but very useful piece of kit for very little money; I was very surprised
