You cut the orange in half and fit one half into the lid. As you place the lid on the machine the pressure starts a plastic turning object that squeezes out the juice. The juice flows into a large lipped jug which is removable. You then remove the orange peel in its original shape and throw away. It's a little noisey and a little slow but it gets every bit of juice out without any pith. All that's left is the orange peel. You can produce two large glassess of juice from about 5 oranges. It slides apart effortlessly and is very easy to clean and reassemble in a few minutes. It only takes citrus fruit. I would recommend it as it produces so much juice with so little waste. The downside is that it came with an overseas plug for some reason so I had to buy an adapter. Don't know why that was.
