No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Effective at filtering water and keeping track of filter life, but probably easier to use filter jug and ordinary kettle. Takes toooo long to switch off once boiling. Sprung loaded lid opening and closing system feels fragile. Is heavy to start with therefore heavier with water. "Staywarm" feature waste of electricity.

Makes a better cuppa due to the filter and if you're a gadget lover the changing colours throughout the boiling process makes this a must! :)

We were a little concerned when first boiling the kettle as it did not turn itself off and the lid popped up on its own. When we tried again it did work correctly so we are unsure whey it did not work on the first attempt. It was specifically bought as a present for someone who lives in a hard water area to save him pouring water from a separate water filter jug so this type of kettle will be ideal for him.

The water is clean and crisp, the kettle makes it hot, that's pretty much what I wanted and that's exactly what I got. It filters and boils on the fly and pretty quickly. Only minor grumble is that every once in a while (and really quite rarely) it doesn't seem to automatically click off of boiling. I mean Ive had it for a few months now and its only happened about 3 times.

Very easy to use. Clear indications. Fast boiling and absolutely free from water scum, calcium build up etc. Tea and coffee taste much better, but replacement filters a little expensive.
