It is quick and easy to use. The base has two exits for the plug cable so you can have the base facing either way which is an excellent design feature. You can not turn the switch on when the kettle is not on the base which is a bit odd but if you do not sit it correctly you know. When there is no water in it, it is a little difficult to tell so I turn it on with no water in it once a week at least.

Boils quickly - even when full, little scaling & what there is falls away. Had mine 3 years - buying a second one for relatives. Spare cable coils underneath. Easy to clean kettle & base.
