I read some reviews that were bad but bought it anyway as my wife liked the look of it. The kettle has been fine. Doesn't leak, boils quietly and the metal outside is double skinned so doesn't get hot enough to burn you. Very happy with it and the kettle would only be too heavy if you are old/infirm or generaly very weak.
Perfect, one of the best kettles I have ever owned.
The manhattan has more style than any other kettle I've ever owned. A definite icon for 21C. The plinth is very small compared to most kettles so it doesn't take up much work surface, but it is tall and would be difficult to fit under wall cupboards. I'm in love with my kettle and wouldn't swap it, but it does have drawbacks. Although beautifully balanced, it's heavy, especially when full. The water level indicator is quite hard to see. Filling would be difficult in a shallow sink with a low tap. On the plus side: the polished surface really is mark resistant, it never drips or dribbles, it boils very quickly and the exterior really stays cool. I'd love a cafetiere and a couple of canisters to match.
I am not a kettle fan and am amazed at the detailed kettle reviews on the Web. And I thought they just boiled water. Anyway... one kettle DID make me grow to love it, and that was the P*****s cube-shaped designer steel / ivory kettle, now deleted. When it got wrecked in a bizarre Hoovering accident recently, I needed a stylish replacement. This was the only one with an appearance that I liked. Very deco. Taller than you expect. After a month: a bit heavy, says my wife. Not as light as The Cube. Pours OK, but not as good as The Cube. Boils quite quickly, but not as quick as The Cube (due to small base area, I guess, but physics was not my best subject). Reasonably well-made, but not as well as The Cube. Not sure how long it will last... Difficult to fill, as tall to go under a tap and small lid hole / flip-up hinged lid. Small plastic lid catch looks weak and I feel like it will wear out and the lid will permanently be popped-up. Not like The sturdy Cube. Very difficult to fill through the spout, unlike The Cube. IMPOSSIBLE to see the water level due to twinkling reflections from the blue LED light/s. The Cube was much better. Double-lined (double walled), inner lining hard plastic so not too hot to the touch for a metal kettle. So better than The Cube, if you are daft enough to like touching hot kettles anyway. Final word - I've read a review somewhere that raves about the 'black marble' base and handle. Wrong. It's just black plastic, and no marble effect. Final word 2 - I think all Morphy kettles are guaranteed for 2 years and that they are very good at replacing. So don't just go to the tip after a few months if it leaks ! Very finally, I have no connection to P*****s, Morphy Richards or their kettle products.
This kettle looks really good, boils quickly and quietly.
A piece of art to look at but shakes like a rocket about to take off when coming to the boil. Does not automaticly switch off when lifted from the base.
use this every day, its great very quiet and looks really stylish, best price for kettle have not found anywhere that sells it cheaper
Bought primarily because of how it looks, statement kettle to match new kitchen. Functions on it are perfect. Love It!
Looks great, really contemporary, but a fairly basic kettle - don't expect any extra functions, just admire the exterior
I use every day
Very stylish product and looks great but the dimensions for the kettle make it very tall and may be awkward to fill under some taps. Spout is quite small and filling is better through the lid at the top. Kettle boils water to a good temperature but is quite noisey (and vibrates a lot) on the last cycle of the boil. There is a nice blue light which turns on when the kettle is switched on but this makes the water fill level very difficult to read - a floating ball could have made it a lot easier.
This is arguably the best looking jug/kettle on the market at the moment. Ok so it is quite heavy, especially when you have managed to open the lid, which requires two hands, and fill it, and the water level indicator is hard to read, especially when the blue boiling light is not illuminated. But hey, all that is eclipsed by it's stunning beauty and style. It looks the business in a modern kitchen and as form is more important to me than function, I forgive this kettle every time. I know it only boils water but boy does it do it with panache!
All covered above, overall very pleased with product
Best to open the lid to fill it as the spout is quite small, but a small price to pay for a good looking kettle.
This kettle is so stylish, it looks fab in the kitchen.
this is a very good looking ketle. it looks really classy in my new kitchen.
Stunning kettle but a couple of flaws. The water fill level indicator is very poor. Could do with a coloured "float" to indicate level of water in kettle. Also, if you use the kettle before it has finished boiling it doesn't turn itself off when you replace it on the stand..... just a couple of points but otherwise a lovely kettle.
Very stylish kettle that boils a lot of water without taking up too much space on the worktop.
Ideal Kettle does what is asked of it, nice slim product, does not take up to much space on the worktop.
Very pleased with the product both in appearance and use. Unfortunately, kettle developed a serious leak after 3 weeks and had to be replaced. This was done quickly and efficiently and we were advised this was an unusual fault. Our only gripe was that we had to pay the [$]to return the faulty item which was not refunded. Replacement fine so far.
It looks great in my new contemporary kitchen
fab price from this site, just as i thought it would be as my friend has the same. [...]
The kettle is beautiful and works wonderfully. But with all the styling and expense, they seem to have constructed it cheaply. Wihtin 6 weeks the button for opening the lid is broken and we have to send it off to get it fixed - I think the 2 year guarantee will be needed. (No wonder they suggest filling down the spout - which is rather tight for this purpose - to 'help with descaling'!!!!)
Great to see a kettle that's a bit different and lovely design as well as good build quality. Only slight con is that it is quite difficult to see the water level - it could do with a floating red ball to overcome this. Great product [...]
It is too tall to fit under the wall unit and has bubbled the unit above due to steam so now sits on the edge of the worktop which is not ideal from a safety point of view. It wobbles when boiling albeit probably quite safe but worrying. Balance when you pick it up is not good either due to how tall it is. Looks nice but...
I's ideal if you have limited work top space,
easy to open lid, fast boil, very pleased with this kettle, would highly recommend to everyone
The kettle is very stylish but heavy even when empty, the water level indicator is difficult to read and make sure you have high taps over the sink as this thing is very tall. But what it lacks in everyday convenience it make up for in looks. The kettle has a twin wall so the outer steel surface stays cool even after several boils.
The kettle is sleek and attractice. It boils one cup of water or eight quickly and effeciently. It is a little heavy when full and you can over fill it as the water indicator is not very clear but it is easy and comfortable and safe to use.
The glowing blue light adds to the overall attractiveness of the kettle when it is is use and it looks great in a contempoaray kitchen.
